Competition Team Tryout Information
If you currently have a dancer that participates on team or if you have a dancer who is interested in joining our TDR competition family, below is a suggested list of skills that are recommended. Please understand that this is a suggested list of skills and is not necessarily mandatory to have, or limited to, for older and more advanced dancers.
ANY DANCER 4th GRADE OR LOWER
Splits - right, left, and center
Battements right and left
Single pirouettes
Beginning grand jetes (these will be covered upon making a team)
Variety of tap steps
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Splits - right, left, and center
Battements right and left
Single and double pirouettes
Center leaps
Grand jetes
1-8 count of fouettes (a full set of eight is not mandatory to make
placement on a team).
Variety of tap steps and combinations and/or jazz and lyrical
combinations, depending on team
ADVANCED MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL

Single, double, and triple pirouettes
Center leaps
Grand jetes
Tilts
Ring Jumps
Fouettes (series, spot, floats, and reverse spot)
Variety of tap steps and combinations and/or jazz and lyrical combinations, depending on team
HIP HOP
Proper execution of choreography
Kip up
Standing headspring
Front handspring
Special trick of choice (aerial, rose plop, etc.)
*Students from both locations are invited to try out. Just please understand that tryouts and practices will be held at the Fort Thomas location.
Private lessons (all year) and summer classes (schedule to come) are always offered, so our dancers can continue their growth and technique in dance.
